are your thoughts blocking your success?

August 11th, 2008 by Julie-Anne
Respond

I think more important than setting our goals is acknowledging the current beliefs we have about ourselves. What are our subconscious thoughts and what energy are they actually putting out into the world?

We are talking about the person you spend 24 hours a day with. Yes that is right. You! If your internal dialog does not match up and believe in the your outward goals and success you are setting for yourself, then how can you possibly achieve them?

The Law Of Attraction states that what we put out there and what we focus on is what comes back to us. If we really want to increase our income, sales and clients in 2008 but have a core belief that money, clients and sales are a hard and difficult struggle to obtain. Then that is the energy we are putting out into the universe. More importantly, that is the reality we will experience.

So no matter how much effort you put into your goal of wanting to earn more money, get more clients or sell more products. If you do not believe that it can come to you easily and without a struggle then it won’t. If you do not believe it can happen at all then it most likely won’t.

I invite you to take the following 3 steps.

Step 1

Look into a mirror and into your eyes for 3 minutes and uncover what you really think about yourself. Write down all the negative things that your head tells you.

Step 2

Now write down the opposite of each of those negative beliefs in the present tense. For two weeks say these affirmations to your self in the mirror. Once out loud and once just in your head.

As important as it is to practice these affirmations, the most essential element is to pause and experience the feeling of what achieving the affirmation would be like. How does it feel when I believe “money comes to me easily and abundantly?” (Hint: I would feel happy and excited!)

That is the feeling you need to embrace when you say that affirmation. This is the way to manifest positive energy in the universe and it is this energy that will allow your goal to come to you.

Step 3

Take a daily action to affirm these new beliefs. If money is coming to you easily and abundantly you can most certainly leave an extra dollar tip at a restaurant. It is these seemingly small gestures that have a magical effect in the world, and contribute to successfully achieving our goals.

So check out what the person you hang out with 24 hours a day thinks of you. Align your foundation of self perception to attract what you desire, embrace what that feels like and take action.

Enjoy

10 baby steps to goal getting success!

August 6th, 2008 by Julie-Anne
Respond

We all want to be successful in our lives. But life can get pretty hectic for all of us these days and our to do lists just seem to be getting longer and longer.

If you get overwhelmed by all the goals you set for yourself maybe it is time to take a different approach to them.

Have you ever thought of taking baby steps?

Instead of looking at the goal as a whole we can break each goal down into small, easily achieved “baby steps.” This can help to free us up and get us into action, building upon each small success until we achieve our goal.

My friend Debbie wants to get her home office cleaned up.

She knows a clean office will help her to find things more quickly. For her it will become a peaceful haven rather than a place that adds more stress to her already busy life.

However at the moment the thought of even attempting to organize causes her to feel stressed and overwhelmed.

Let’s follow along and see how finding the baby step will get her into action.

Step 1 What is your goal?
My goal is that I want to get my home office organized.

Step 2 What are the specific things you need to get done to achieve this goal?
Bills put away
Filing system and papers sorted
Re-organize wardrobe space for storage
Sort through books I no longer need

Step 3 What is the first tiny step that you can take?

Well I have a bunch of old papers that are not used and are taking up space in the filing cabinet. So if I got rid of those I would have more space for the papers that are all over my desk right now.

Step 4 How will you know you have successfully taken this first step?

My office desktop will be spotless and I will feel relaxed when I sit there.

Step 5 Achievable –Can it be done?

Yes it can be done.

Step 6 Reasonable – What may get in the way based on time, resources or money?
How realistic is your plan?

I may get overwhelmed. I do not have the time. I may get called away by the kids.
But if I put the time marked in my calendar while the kids are at school then I know it will get done.
Also when I play music I feel great so I will do that while I am sorting so I will not feel overwhelmed.

Step 7 Time oriented – When will you do this?
I will be able to do it on Wednesday for 1 hour from 10.00-11.00am. If I want to keep going after that I will but for now I am committing to one hour.

Step 8 Accountability – Insurance for yourself.

I will commit to my best friend that I am going to do this and will also text her when I am done.

Step 9 Celebrate your success!
After I text my friend I will buy myself a bunch of my favorite flowers.

Step 10 Keeping your perspective
Staying in gratitude can take the pressure off as well. After all, in the larger scheme of things it is a quality problem Debbie is dealing with. She has an office and she gets to organize it!

Repeat this process and create a new action step each time. Setting yourself up for success is much more motivating than setting unrealistic goals.

All of your endeavors not matter how big they may seem can be approached in this same “baby step” way.

Even if you just spend five minutes a day taking one baby step those actions will add up to complete your goal more quickly than taking no action at all.

Enjoy

is thinking your friend or foe?

July 28th, 2008 by Julie-Anne
Respond

As a Creative and an Entrepreneur it is easy to get stuck at times.

Thinking. Thinking. Thinking.

Thinking is great and most times essential however if it gets in the way of doing it definitely is not our friend.

We can get weighed down with figuring out how everything should, needs or has to happen. All tied up and strongly attached to our desired result.

What if we let go of the result and the thinking and just did the next right action?

What risks would you be more willing to take if the results were left open?

Taking the approach of slowly inching forward towards our dreams and enjoying the process.

Allowing life in the present moment to unfold and deliver us solutions, people, places and miracles we had not even considered.

All that is needed is an opening of space for the universe to step into. And what better place for that to happen than taking care of the outcomes of our actions.

A lot easier to go about our day when we are not alone. Yes?

So today what are some actions you can take?

And what results are you clinging to that you can let go of?

it’s not about you.

July 21st, 2008 by Julie-Anne
Respond

As a coach of creative people and entrepreneurs I have many clients who are pursuing their dream of getting paid to do what they love.

In my experience one of the biggest obstacles to peoples creative success is thinking that they, all on their own are responsible for their creativity. That they somehow are solely accountable for the gifts and talents they have been given. This way of thinking can be overwhelming and effectively paralyzing for many artists.

It is my belief that if we view ourselves as the means by which the universe works through us. Then it takes our ego and the “Its all about us” out of the equation. Freeing us up to both pursue and tap into our greatest source for our creative expression.

As an actor you allow emotions to flow through you so that you allow others to connect to theirs. A singer brings joy to all those who hear her. A writer connects to their own greatness so that others may also learn and enjoy more. A manager partners with clients to help them reach the audience that needs them. And so on.

So if you are pursuing your creative dream today. Try remembering it is actually not all about you. It is about allowing the universe to work through you so that you can serve the people that need to hear, see and feel what you create.

Are you Suffering from the Never Enough Syndrome?

July 14th, 2008 by Julie-Anne
Respond

It does not really matter what it is one is striving for whether it be money, a family, success, fame or something else. If it brings you happiness great!

It seems that in our current environment no matter how much we achieve it is never enough. When I have X amount of dollars in my back account. Then that will be enough. But the truth is, if you do not believe that you have enough right now, no matter how much you accumulate or achieve, it will never be enough.

The Never Enough Syndrome is not cured by trying to be filled up from the outside in. It is an inside-out job. The great thing is that right now you can be and have enough. The challenging thing is to believe that right now you can be and have enough.

And the irony is in accepting this truth it does not mean you will not achieve and accumulate more; in fact the opposite will be true.

If you want to get off the treadmill of perpetual wanting ask yourself, “What can I do today to be filled up with the priceless gift of feeling like I am and have enough?”

How would you behave in your life today and what choices would you make if you had and were enough?

Good, do and be that!

are you allowed to be okay?

July 7th, 2008 by Julie-Anne
Respond

Is it comfortable for you if your life is fine, good or okay? Or do you feel the need, as most of us do, to point out what is missing, what we do not have, or what is not right with ourselves and in our lives?

It seems that the acceptable way for us to connect during our conversations is to point out what is wrong, what we are working on and what we need to fix so that THEN everything will be okay.

Maybe today we can try focusing on letting ourselves just be okay.

It would be a much happier space to live from don’t you think?

And by the way it’s okay for you and everything to be okay.

Permission to be creative.

June 30th, 2008 by Julie-Anne
Respond

When did it stop being okay to express ourselves and play?

Growing up I did not think of myself as creative.
I was more of the sports type.
Basketball. Netball. Football. Athletics.

But the truth is I have always been very creative I just did not know it. I thought that a creative person was only someone who did an amazing painting or who wrote a fabulous book.

For me now being creative is more about an approach to life than it is the strict manifestation of an art piece.

People who come up with new cell phones, recipes, video games, communication techniques or a new paper quality are all examples of being creative.

Taping into your creativity is fun, exciting and an adventure that makes you feel alive and a part of life. As children we did this very naturally using our imagination and coming up with all sorts of games and ideas. Playing.

We are all creative. It is not about us. It is a way for the universe to come through us.

My life today is all about being creative.
From the moment I get up I am actively creating my life.
I write, speak, cook, shop, coach, walk etc.

In what ways would you like to be more creative in your life today?

In what way will you let yourself be creative today?

Go on. Be bold. Have fun. Play.

Enjoy your creating today.

who is the first to say NO to you?

June 23rd, 2008 by Julie-Anne
Respond

How often do you say you want to pursue something yet you take very little action to make it happen?

Actually if it came down to it, reorganizing  the book case in your office all of a sudden becomes the priority instead of actually sitting down to write the book that you say you want to.

Could it be that we are more comfortable being in a position of wanting?

We can say we want the success in pursing our passion yet we are the first ones to say NO to ourselves.

We aren’t even out of the gate and we can come up with ten reasons as to why our book will not sell.

How would it feel today to be the first one to say YES to yourself?

What will it take for you to have the permission to be allowed to pursue your dreams?

What is your choice today?  Yes or No?

Are you a Monday or Friday kinda gal?

June 16th, 2008 by Julie-Anne
Respond

I heard an interesting speaker this week who was talking about how he loved what he does.  He referred to himself as a Monday guy, as he so looked forward to getting back to work on Monday.  And how did not want to be a Friday guy who just looked forward to getting out of the work week and into his weekend.

What is it going to take for you to switch to being a Monday person?

My challenge to you today is not to think about a big extensive plan of HOW it is all going to unfold.  But to just take one small action you can do that will point you in the direction of where you want to go.

You will be surprised at how taking even the smallest action.  And the next.  And the next.   Will eventually lead you to accomplishing what was once only a dream.

Happy Monday!
